What is random? Is random really random? How do you pick just anything by closing your eyes? Is there a high chance that you pick a particular card by closing your eyes? Do you always get six when you roll a dice? Or do you get what are called
random numbers?
I went to
random.org and generated a number between 34 and 9998. They are
random numbers. But how? I could have chosen the default 1 and 100, 500 to 1000, anything. The result that came out was 3039. Let alone the number, the digits are random. Like just any ordinary digit. And 3039 is just
any ordinary number. Or is it?
How can it be that something is so ordinary that it is considered random? Even non-ordinary numbers, numbers like 10, 25, 45,75,100,1 and so on are also random numbers. Like there are lots and lots of number cards (numbers go on forever, so lots), and you close your eyes and picked up one card. That is random. But there is a probability of you picking up a card more often than another by the position of your fingers. Say, if I have sorted 500 number cards into rows, and my finger is between 30 and 35. I will pick up 30,31,32,33,34 and 35 more often than the others.

What is the randomest number possible? I generated another number
: 65511534. Not every possible number has been pronounced, but quite lot have. An example of random numbers are telephone and fax numbers. You just say like nine five eight something something something. If the generated number was a phone number, we would say: six five five one one five three four. Otherwise, it is sixty-five million five hundred eleven thousand five hundred thirty-four. In Indian system, though, it will be six crore fifty-five lakh eleven thousand five hundred thirty-four.
And now, let's generate another number between 5000 and 10000: 5652!
